Dogs, Boys and Other Things I’ve Cried About - Isabell Klee

Curled up on my bed, wearing my “Be Brave Like Tiki” T-shirt with my own dog beside me, I finished Dog Boys and Other Things I’ve Cried About by Isabell Klee with tears of happiness in my eyes.

Klee invites readers into her life through the lens that matters most to her: love. Love for her family, the men who shaped her life, and of course the dogs who have always been at the center of it all. Her writing is deeply personal and emotionally honest. The way she shares her feelings allows the reader to experience them almost viscerally, as if we are walking alongside her through the moments that shaped her.

One of the most compelling parts of the memoir is the journey that leads her to her constant loves, Simon and Jacob. As someone who follows Isabell on Instagram, I already knew the ending of this love story. But knowing the outcome did not make the journey any less meaningful. In fact, it made the unfolding of it even more special. Watching two people do the work to grow, learn, and ultimately build the relationship they have today was genuinely beautiful.

Klee writes with tenderness, vulnerability, and humor, creating a story that feels both intimate and relatable. This memoir is about love in all its forms, the messy and emotional moments that shape us, and the quiet ways dogs often anchor our lives through it all.

I wholeheartedly recommend this thoughtful, tender, and honest book.
